As I mentioned in the Lantern, Leath Sarvo and I attended a workshop and came away with some interesting questions and learnings.  Below are some of the learnings.

• A question we should ask ourselves:   What do people know about our church?  How does our community know our church?
• The importance of people pursuing opportunities to minister and use their gifts and passions.
• Keeping a cautious awareness that our motion or calendar does NOT become our vision.
• Growth without a foundation can lead to:

-inward verses outward focus

-communication suffered

-Unclear vision

-hospitality lacking

-following up with guests

-same leaders more responsibility

• Evidence of mis-alignment in a church

-The congregation ceases to invite guests

-Godly conflict resolution is seen as optional

-people are seen as resources rather than ministry

-the church grows without growing leaders

• Imagine a church where

-People pursue opportunities to minister and use their gifts!

-The nursery is filled with volunteers who love your children

-The young are mentored by the old and wise

-Servants make life long commitments to ministries rather than taking their turn

-Teachers are selected from a pool of trained and equipped servants who have the gift of teaching.
